The consequence of not having an Aadhaar and Pan Card Link

By 30 June 2023, everyone who has not Aadhaar and Pan Card Link will no longer be able to use their PAN card. It should be highlighted that Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements from clearing houses to banks and even e-wallets must be satisfied in order to use a PAN Card. All of these services will inevitably be impacted if a PAN card is issued.

Even if you miss the deadline, you can still link PAN-Aadhaar but with a penalty of Rs 1,000 and other consequences as well.

The interest created on your bank account funds will be impacted by a non-functioning PAN card. If the bank is not linked to the PAN Card, the TDS (Tax Deduction at Source) imposed on interest over Rs 10,000 per year will double to 20%. For bank accounts connected to PAN cards, a 10% TDS is applied to interest earned above Rs 10,000.

Additionally, if you fail to link the two documents by the deadline and your PAN expires, it will be presumed that you have not provided your PAN in accordance with the law, and you may be subject to a penalty of Rs 10,000 under Section 272B of the Income Tax Act.
